New Year’s Festival Dublin (NYF Dublin) is Ireland’s biggest New Year celebration. The festival is brought to you by Fáilte Ireland and Dublin City Council and is delivered by MCD.
In 2019, its eighth year running, approximately 110,000 took to the streets of Dublin to participate in the festival across two days. The Fireworks display is a popular element of the festival, which attracted up to 80,000 attendees. Given these numbers this event would not fall within current Government and public health guidance and it would not be appropriate to encourage people to congregate in these numbers.
In the absence of the two-day festival this year we will ring in 2021 with a special televised New Year’s Eve programme of events, courtesy of RTÉ, for everyone to enjoy from the comfort of their homes this New Year’s Eve. If you wish to tune in from abroad, you can do so through the RTÉ Player which will be available for everyone to watch no matter where in the world you are.
